The Founding Family
City of Refuge Children's Home was co-founded in 1964 by Martha Lopez Ortiz. Today, she holds the title of Founder/Director.
Assisting Martha in the directing of this ministry are her three adult children - Seth, Sara, and Susy Gomez.
Seth is our Administrator and is in charge of all financial matters, administrative tasks, and public relations. He is also our Assistant Director and will one day be the new Director of our home.
Sara is our Mission Trip Coordinator and the Founder of our Women's Shelter. She is responsible for scheduling and overseeing all mission trips and is actively involved in running the shelter as well.
Susy is the Director of our Women's Shelter and is responsible for overseeing its daily operations and caring for all of the women and children who live there.
Supporting Staff
In addition to the "Founding Family," there are many other people who are needed to keep our home running and help advance the vision of Tijuana Christian Mission. Taking care of 100 children - feeding them, doing their laundry, taking them to school and helping them with their homework - is no small task! Our staff consists of about 20 people, whose job descriptions vary greatly, sometimes from day to day. We thank God for sending each one of these faithful people to be part of our ministry.
